The two words get used interchangeably, and they are not the same thing. Humiliation plays on embarrassment and exposure: being teased, made to blush, caught out, put on display, shown to yourself and to her as ridiculous. It works on your dignity from the outside. Degradation works from the inside. It is meant to make you feel lowered, lesser, worthless, not merely embarrassed but genuinely brought down, always by agreement and always as play. Put plainly, humiliation makes you feel small, degradation makes you feel low.
